In January 1999, the brothers of the Father Kelley Division, Ancient Order of Hibernians contemplated staging a Saint Patrick’s Day Parade for the City of Manassas, Virginia to show pride in their Irish heritage and help the community learn more about the role of the Irish in America. The Inaugural Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade was on March 18, 2000. The parade continues to be a highly anticipated event in our community.
Due to the overwhelming support of the community and the success of the inaugural Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, it continues today and is incorporated as Inisfail, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Inisfail comes from the ancient, pre-Christian name for Ireland that signifies Isle of Destiny.
Providing a great deal of support to our efforts were our Fraternal Brothers in the George Brent Council 5332, Knights of Columbus. George Brent Council opened its council home and checkbook to us in order for this to be a successful event. We share our success with our Brother Knights, who have been with us from the start of this endeavor
Inisfail, Inc. is grateful for your support and we sincerely hope that you have a great time in Manassas at our Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.
